Ladies & Gentlemen,
Since my previous review for OS X Tiger seemed to go down so well it's probably not much of a surprise that I'm planning to do a review for Leopard. Since there seems to be a few people on this site with Macs, or at least access to them, I'm wondering if anyone would like to contribute to the article. What I am looking for is opinion on the new OS and also how it runs on your Mac, particularly if you have something like an iMac, MacBook or even a relatively newish G4/G5 system. For my part I will be testing the OS on my old 1GHz G4 PowerBook and Core 2 Duo MacBook Pro. Benchmarks can be run with XBench (a bit old but the best there seems to be for the Mac and it's a Universal Binary) and I'm also planning to run timed demos with Quake 4 and see if I can test with World of Warcraft. All tests will be run under clean installs of Tiger (patched to 10.4.10 or 10.4.11, if they release the final patch this week) and Leopard.
I'd also be interested in getting comparison comments and opinions on Leopard from people who also have access to Vista. When I wrote my last article I could compare Tiger to XP but I'm not going to pay out for Vista as well (my budget this year has already been blown) and therefore getting some input from this side of things would be useful.
If you are at all interested then please drop me an email at mpeaston at mac dot com or send me a message over AIM/iChat to the same screen name.
Here's hoping that my pre-order arrives on Friday rather than the week after soon time... |
