Pink for October
No, we haven’t been taken over by an army of Barbie dolls. Rather, the change you see on Aelon today is for a cause. While pink isn’t exactly my favourite colour, the cause is a worthy one. Pink for October is the brainchild of Matthew Oliphant, a member of the 9rules Network of which this site is also a part. It is essentially the online version of the pink ribbon, raising awareness of breast cancer, and this year looks to be the biggest one yet.
Given that this type of cancer has affected not only some of my close friends but also my own immediate family, this wasn’t something I felt I could pass up. As well as going pink, I’ll be donating the entirety of Aelon’s advertising income for October. For the purpose of transparency, Text Link Ads Inc. tells me that’s $75.38 US which I would otherwise have used to buy a video game or some other such nonsense.
So if you do run a website of your own, go and read up on going pink.

It feels great to see so many bloggers participating in the Breast Cancer Awareness month!
Besides going pink, I will also try to create and spread the awareness on breast cancer throughout the month.

The company I work for (ASDA) did a Breast Cancer awareness month for September in which we raised money through various methods and bought various ‘Tickled Pink’ t-shirts which we could wear in work instead of our uniform.
Nice work Cyrris.

It’s really good to do this, the breast cancer foundation does some really good work. One thing that I’ve learned though through my other family members having had cancer recently is that breast cancer also benefits tremendously from having good PR people as it gets way more funding than it would deserve proportionally. I don’t mean that in any sense of negativity against the organization or anything of that nature I just kind of feel, would that every major disease research project could have such a big coalition of supporters, it could lead to great things.

Way to go Cyrris!
I love how you incorporated the ribbon at the top. Still, dispite the fact that I wholehartedly support this “Pink for October” campaign, I must admit that I’m glad that pink isn’t the normal color for this site. Blue just looks better

What a good idea! My site is pink, but not in the same way!! I am having pink giveaways for Breast Cancer Awareness all month long to help spread the word.
I like your theme though, it’s a very pretty pink.
