We’re One

By Cyrris

That’s right folks, Aelon in it’s current blogging form was launched one year ago on this day. Before that, of course, we had a short 13 month stint at being a general gaming site with reviews and articles. I think our change of format to a blog based system was possibly the best move I ever made online - the site has since been a complete success. The time has passed pretty damn quickly, as it only feels like a short time ago that I was writing some of those articles I see are now 11 or 12 months old in the archive. Let’s go over what we’ve achieved to date…

And things are only looking up. Last month we broke our own records for visitor numbers. This month isn’t even over, but we’ve broken them again (even more convincingly). Since we became a blog, we’ve had a six-fold increase in our monthly traffic. I’m not one to normally toot my own horn like this in front of everyone, but frankly I think the guys who are a part of this site all deserve a pat on the back. It’s been a great twelve months, with great content and a great community, so here’s to a great twelve more. And some more after that.

Incredible. I am very pleased to be a part of Aelon. Its continued growth has really kept me dedicated to the site and proud to be on the staff.

The past few months the site has really taken off and is becoming more than I imagined. Here is to many more years.

Now that I don’t actively mod anymore, I should get rid of IE once in for all…. but, I like upsetting you =P.

    Kudos on the anniversary.

In fairness to things, I think it was only relatively recently that the site started getting a reasonable number of articles, so expanding the number of authors is no doubt one of the biggest reasons why the site is becoming more popular. A small number of authors probably gets a little tired quickly but a nice diverse range keeps stuff relatively fresh, and that’s definitely a plus.

I’m still not sure of the site’s look though. If you go for another re-design, I’m voting for a warmer feeling…

    Do we get cake?

The amount of cake given to each person is directly proportional to the number of posts and comments they have made on the blog. =P

As far as redesigning the site goes, Kelmon, I know I usually like to go for a new one every 6 months (so we’re already a month overdue for one), but I feel Aelons current design is functional and pleasing enough that it can last until Christmas. It’s unlike me, I know, but it also has to do with laziness and other web projects coming up which I am also procrastinating on.

I believe you have to share your crumb with Tiny Tim… or fight him to the death for it.

    Happy Birthday Aelon!

Well, I’m pretty recent to Aelon - been reading regularly for only a couple months and made my first contribution just a few days ago, but I have to say: good game to Cyrris and Doc. This is a great site that you’ve got going, and it deserves to get a lot more attention.

There, enough sucking up. Where’s my cake?

    Happy Birthday Aelon.

Ive only been posting here since January(ish) but im glad that I do. I constantly enjoy coming here and posting, and the blog articles often help me to actually learn something!

And cheesecake is so much better than any other kind of cake.

I’ve been trying Firefox (Again) without modding… I feel like there’s not a huge difference, except for the fact that I prefer IE’s history.

    Love being a heathen.

you could try firefox WITH some mods. I find navigating in firefox easier, where I have more relevant options in context menus (Copy link location, Copy image location, etc).

I just found out about this site, and I was instantly impressed. One of the sleakest designs I’ve seen in a long time and contents to match it. I think I’ll hang around for a while.
