Blog FeedForums Upgraded
As planned, our message boards have received a pretty substantial upgrade. As well as updating to the newest version of phpBB, they have had a face-lift to bring their design more in to line with Aelon itself, and to try and remove as much of the generic phpBB look as possible. A lot of the changes also removed a bunch of unnecessary buttons and other features which I found just added to clutter, so the look is much more streamlined.
All of the useless ICQ/WWW/Email buttons under each post have been removed - you can see them when you view someones profile anyway. And now, to view profiles, you just need to click on the persons username. Much more intuitive, in my opinion. As always, let me know if you experience any bugs, and I’ll squash them. For now though, I’d love to hear your thoughts on the new look, and will be taking suggestions for improvements. I might add though, that if you don’t like bright sites, you should put some sunglasses on before proceeding.

Three cheers! I think it looks great, however, I am a bright sight lover myself. Definitly fits the style of Aelon better as well. Great stuff.
Kind of funny when I freshed once it only 1/2 changed the look and what I got is an inbetween blend of the new forums and the old forums.

Hot damn, sorry for the double comment but I LOVE the thread layout now. I had only checked the main forums at first. Streamlined and clean is so much better than the default blotted phpBB. Threads flow more like conversations without all that junk in between each post. Mega good game.

The “Jump To:” box doesn’t work quite right. It either doesn’t work or takes you to the wrong forum. I think this has actually been a problem last time too (Couch taking you to Tavern that is).

OK, I found the bug with the jumpbox (a stray </form> tag floating about), so it works for me now. I don’t know why it was ever taking you to the wrong forum. As far as I can tell, the bug just made it so that when viewing a forum section, it wouldn’t work at all, while when viewing a topic, it would work fine.
Anyway, it works fine for me now, so it should work fine for you too. Well spotted, by the way.

Oooo…looks nice, looks clean, looks streamlined.
Also, looks like an odd new forum box thingy has appeared.
