I had only enough money to buy one game and had Half-Life in one hand and Tribes in the other and was having internal strugglers over which to spend my hard earned money on. After much debate I finally picked tribes and went home and nearly exploded. It was the first online game I had ever played with my 56k modem. The jetpacks, vast terrain, flying bases and "Shazbot!" were instant favorites. I soon picked up half-life later and while I will say half-life is high up there on the 'best games ever', Tribes still holds a place in my heart. I have since got broadband though, and UT2004, so if this can combine the best aspects of both games (which to my understanding, is what it is aiming for), then it'll be awesome.
