Our New Bond
I’m happy. It appears as though one of my favourite actors, Eric Bana, has been chosen to play James Bond now that Pierce Brosnan has stepped down. Now, the last time an Australian was given the Bond job, it didn’t turn out overly well. I don’t know what else Lazenby had under his acting belt before he did it, but Bana seems to have enough.
Eric is the guy they want but he has a reputation for being demanding. They want to modernize Bond and turn him into a youthful, suave and modern hero to compete with the likes of Spiderman and Keanu (Reeves) in the Matrix
An interesting choice, going young. I’m quite sure all the previous Bonds weren’t too young when they started. Hell, Brosnan is 51, now. It’ll be interesting to see how this pans out. As long as they keep him in the Vanquish, it should be fine.

Damn it, I was just about to post this! The quote you chose was also what filled me with a little worry… I don’t want Bond’s character watered down any more.
As for the age question, Brosnan would have been 42 when he took the role. Roger Moore was 46. Sean Connery, however, was younger when he starred in Dr. No (32) than Bana will be if this works out (he’s currently 36).

Yeah, I’m thinking I’m really not sure how old Lazenby was when he, uhh, tried. Maybe he was younger too. But neither he not Connery actually went for a youthful look.

Why don’t they just bring Sean Connery back? He’s the coolest old man alive, and still sexy enough to get the ladies.

You still think Connery could pull off moving like a young man? They would have to use a stunt double for nearly every shot that isn’t a closeup!
